Attracting, Motivating and Retaining Software Engineers

June 7, 2001

Location:

The June Twin-SPIN program was on "Attracting, Motivating and Retaining Software Engineers".

What motivates software engineers in their work? How can we increase the potential for attracting and retaining software engineers? These are questions that prompted a research project done by Diane Maki, our guest speaker for the June Twin SPIN meeting. Diane will describe how she conducted her research and talk about how the research findings can be put into practice.

About the Speaker:

Diane Maki is president of Strategic People Development, LLC, which specializes in guiding organizations through change. She has over 15 years of managerial experience and ten years of leading process improvement teams through implementation of major changes in the way they do their work.

Diane has an MBA with a management focus from the University of St. Thomas and a PhD in Education from the University of Minnesota with a specialization in Human Resource Development. She has taught systems thinking and research methods at the university graduate level.
