Abstract:

Most development projects finish significantly behind schedule. One of the main reasons is inadequate risk management. Risk management is taught in most project management classes. It is built into the most popular development processes. Yet, most projects are significantly late. That’s because most projects just identify risks, they don’t really manage them. Yet, there are many projects that meet their schedule, cost and quality goals — and they are fun to work on. The keys are consistent management of risks from the beginning of a project to the end and real support from top management.

Learn how to do risk right.

About the Speakers:

Gordon Dosher is a program manager with over fifteen years managing software, hardware and business improvement projects — many on time. Before he had his soul removed to become a manager, he designed instrumentation systems and was a systems integration engineer. He has worked for StorageTek, Alliant Techsystems, Honeywell and Starkey Labs. He likes long walks by the beach, Oh, wait, that’s from his other bio. He has the distinction of having three VPs mad at him at the same time. Even though he is looking for a new job, he will not be passing the hat during his presentation.
