Speaker: Mary Beth Chrissis - Software Engineering Institute

Abstract:

Process improvement is a well-established business competitiveness strategy for medium and large enterprises in a number of industries critical to the global economy. But process improvement is challenging especially for very small organizations. This presentation will share insights on approaching CMMI and other model-based improvements drawn particularly from small settings.  It will look at factors that affect small companies and what you can do to help ensure that your SPI approach will work.

Speaker Bio:

Mary Beth Chrissis is the CMMI Training Manager at the Software Engineering Institute (<>SEI).  Since joining the SEI in 1988, Chrissis has been a coauthor of all releases of the Capability Maturity Modelâ for Software and releases of the Capability Maturity Model Integrationâ models.  She is an author of "CMMI: Guidelines for Process Integration and Product Improvement" and "The Capability Maturity Model: Guidelines for Improving the Software Process." Chrissis is a member of the CMMI Configuration Control Board, IEEE Software and Systems Engineering Standards Committee Executive Committee, and is an instructor of various CMMI model-relatedcourses at the SEI.

Twin-SPIN Mission Statement:

The Twin-SPIN software process improvement network  (SPIN) is a regional organization established in January of 1996 as a   forum for the free and open exchange of software process improvement   experiences and ideas. Representatives from industry, government, academia, other professional organizations, and consultants are welcome to participate. Our mission is to help sustain commitment and enhance skills in the area of software process improvement through an active program of networking and mutual support. The organization strives to serve as a source of educational and experiential information for its members, other SPIN organizations, and the general community of software professionals.
