Lifting the Veil; The Relationship Between Budgeting and Iterative Development: The Value of     Corporate Control

Speaker:

Nandan Dasgupta, E-Busines System Consultant, Wells Fargo

Abstract:

Iterative Development as simply defined: Increase understanding of the problem through successive refinements and multiple cycles.

Iteration is a complete development loop resulting in a release (internal or external) of an executable product

  • A subset of the final product under development, which grows incrementally from Iteration to Iteration to become the final system.

Iterative and Incremental Estimating:

  • Estimating the costs for each task of an Iteration
  • Estimating the overall Costs

- Top-down Approach for initial phase of development

- Bottom-up Approach for later phase for development

The aims of cost planning are determining of future prospects of cost and calculation of cost objectives as a prerequisite for budgeting.

This presentation will try to answer the following questions:

  • How to forecast financial number for anIteration and the revised financial numbers for subsequent Iterations?
