This Month's Meeting: Program Manager: Keith Elliot - Moneygram International

Topic:  Sarbanes-Oxley: A New Reality

Speaker:
Corey Benish, CISA
Manager, Internal Processes & Controls
Moneygram International

Abstract:
While the marketplace continues to debate its value, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) is a reality for all public companies in the foreseeable future.  It has dramatically changed the way the business and IT community operate and interact. Companies that can capitalize on this reality and transition the project of compliance to the process of compliance will emerge with a clear competitive advantage resulting from an increase in efficiency, savings, and an improved control environment.

In this session, Mr. Benish will provide an overview of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and its impact in the marketplace. Mr. Benish will review the typical compliance project, touch on the generally accepted governance frameworks that support SOX compliance, and provide practical and applicable steps towards maturing the compliance effort into a process. Mr. Benish will focus on opportunities specifically within IT for achieving this maturation.

Speaker Bio:
Corey Benish is a Certified Information Systems Auditor with several years experience in managing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance activities for both business and IT processes. Prior to working with Moneygram International, Mr. Benish consulted with organizations of various sizes on their Sarbanes-Oxley compliance as well as on internal audit co-source engagements.
